Residency Program
Kinkead Contemporary’s residency program was created to support artists while they prepare for exhibitions at the gallery. By providing a 600 square foot studio to work and live in Los Angeles, we are able to assist our artists with an opportunity to focus on their work in a distraction-free space. While residencies are traditionally hosted by non-profit institutions, Kinkead Contemporary aims to present an alternative model for the contemporary art gallery, which provides a harmonious space where collectors and artists can interact and develop a true sense of community.
The first year of Kinkead Contemporary’s residency program welcomed Alexander Lee (New York), Keltie Ferris (New York), and James Everett Stanley (San Francisco) as they prepared for their first solo exhibitions in Los Angeles. This spring we are looking forward to hosting Jim Lutes (Chicago), whose solo exhibition at Kinkead Contemporary is his first in Los Angeles since 1989. Angela Defresne (New York) will be in residence this May. Her exhibition follows her L.A. debut at the Hammer Museum in 2006.
